Newsletter 2015 Autumn, Term 2

We are hoping you enjoyed the holidays as much as we have at Young at
Art. We are very proud of the work our students have produced Auckland wide
these holidays.

TERM 2 AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES

Classes will commence in Pukekohe for term 2 on Tuesday 28th April, the 2nd
week of term as usual. We have an action packed programme planned kicking
off with watercolour techniques, landscapes, our emphasis will be on
composition, papier mache and our artist study being American artist Wayne
Thiebaud amongst other exciting projects.

As usual our existing student’s places roll on to the next term unless I am
informed otherwise.

After school Art class details:
Monday (6 years +) 3.30pm – 4.30pm WETA workshop
Tuesday (9 years +) 3.30 – 4.30pm WETA workshop
Tuesday (10 years plus) 6.30-7.30pm HOME studio *
Wednesday (6 years +) 3.30pm – 4.30pm WETA workshop

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

We will be holding the following clay and craft workshops during term 2 and
may follow with some more as the term goes on. If you find these times do
not suit due to Winter sports please let us know as we may look at reviewing
the times.

MOTHERS DAY Bath Bomb making workshop (5 years+)
Saturday 9th May, 2015, 11am–1pm
Cost : $25.00 *includes all materials

Pinch Pot Pets CLAY workshop (7 years+):
Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th June, 11am- 1pm.
Cost for both days $70.00 *Include all materials and kiln fees

The FLASH BANG SCIENCE Club

The Club kicked off to a bang last term. We will be running a 6 week after school class on Wednesdays for term 2 (3.30-5pm) in Pukekohe and are taking expressions of interest for other areas. Summer 2015, Term 1

Newsletter 2015 Summer Term 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What a wonderful Summer we have all been having.  Our tutors are all energised, inspired and ready to go for another action packed year of creativity with our students.

TERM 1 AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES
Classes will commence in Pukekohe for term 1 on Monday 9th February, the 2nd week of term as usual.   We have an action packed programme planned kicking off with portraits with a difference, a collaborative project for installation at the Franklin Children’s arts festival amongst others.

New class for 10 years plus
Due to popular demand we now have a later art class for 10 years plus on a Tuesday evening in our home studio (6.30-7.30pm).   In this class we will be looking into art techniques in more detail and allow students to further develop their existing skills.

After school Art class details:    
Monday  (6 years +) 3.30pm – 4.30pm  WETA workshop
Tuesday (9 years +) 3.30 – 4.30pm WETA workshop
Tuesday (10 years +) 6.30-7.30pm  HOME studio *NEW*
Wednesday (6 years +) 3.30pm – 4.30pm  WETA workshop

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

Saturday 21st and Saturday 28th February, 10am-12 noon.

Paper making workshop (6 years+)
Saturday 14th and Saturday 21st March 2015, 10am–12 noon
Cost for both days: $50.00 *Includes all materials

FRANKLIN CHILDREN’S ARTS FESTIVAL
SAVE THE DATE!  Saturday 7th March 2015, 10am-2pm in and around Pukekohe Town hall.
This year the theme is ‘Arts around the World’ and we will be bringing a world of inspiration to the Franklin this year.  There will be masses of interactive arts, crafts, drama, music and movement workshops, International performances and entertainment.  Fantastic event for families with children of all ages.

Term 2 Classes

We will be kicking off term 2 with water colour painting, discover Optical art through our artist study of Victor Vasarely and learn some drawing techniques for the human face amongst other exciting projects.

At the end of term 1 we said farewell to our fabulous tutor Sharon Saunders.  We would like to thank Sharon for sharing her amazing skills with us all and look forward to seeing her again in holiday workshops in the near future. 

Anna will be returning as the tutor for Wednesday classes for term 2.

Please ensure students wear old clothes to classes, school uniforms are expensive and some of our paints are not washable.

Franklin Children’s Arts Festival

Our Franklin Children’s Arts Festival is now a bi-annual event so our next festival will be in March 2015. We will be recruiting volunteers in October this year. Please let us know if you are interested in being part of our positive and creative team. We require volunteers with all skills not just artistic ones. ☺

Santa Parade 2013

Fantastic result at the Pukekohe Santa Parade, a well deserved first prize!!
Congratulations to all our students in attendance on the day and a big thank you to the families for all your support. Our prize money has been spent on lots of new art products, brushes etc.

TERM 4 CLASSES

Classes will commence for the term 4 on Monday 21st October, the 2nd week of term as usual.  If you would like to reserve a place for your child please email as soon as possible, places are limited.

If your child was registered last term they will be re-registered this term automatically.  Please let us know ASAP if they do not require their place this term.

This term we will be creating giant puppets and creations for the Santa parade, painting project and Christmas decorations.

This term we will again be running our specialist Six week CLAY course (7yrs+) on a Thursday in Pukekohe, 3.45pm – 5.00pm, classes commence on Thursday 31st October. Projects this term include pinch pot pets and monsters, Christmas bowls and tree toppers.  The cost of this class is $120.00.

Class details  

Afterschool Art and craft:    Monday and Wednesday groups (6 years +) 3.30pm – 4.30pm;  Tuesday group (9 years +) 3.30 – 4.30pm

Six week Clay class:   Thursday (7 years +): 3.45-5pm

We will also be running a Saturday Christmas clay decoration workshop in Pukekohe on Saturday 7th and 14th December, $60 for both Saturdays, price includes all materials and kiln costs.

Young @ Art Exhibition 2013

A big thank you to all the students who exhibited artwork in the Young @ Art exhibition in the school holidays.  We have received fabulous feedback and you should all be very proud of your young artists.

All work will be for collection from the Richard Taylor Weta workshop from next week (Monday / Wednesday 3-5pm).  If you cannot collect at these times please contact Anna to arrange another time.

Santa Parade 2013

This term our after school students will be working on fabulous creations for the Pukekohe Santa Parade.

Date for you calendar for Pukekohe Santa Parade this year is Sunday 1st December.  If your child is a current after school student please advise if your child cannot attend.
